Amid the pros and cons of soda and its impact on health, a study found that the positive benefits of this beverage. In the study mentioned that soda lime flavor contains good material, which is beneficial to avoid kidney stones.

Researchers conducted by Dr. Brian Eisner of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, kind of orange soda flavor compounds generally contain a high citrate. It is then able to inhibit formation of calcium oxalate stones, the most common form of kidney stones. Dr. Eisner suggested to obtain these results, one is recommended to drink 2 to 3 liters.

Overall of the study found, on average orange-flavored soda products from various famous brands of soda lime in the world, also have higher citrate levels than the homemade lemonade. Only a few products that have only citrate less, even nothing at all.

As has been reported by Health, Kidney stones develop when urine is essentially containing crystal-forming substances in excess, for example calcium, uric acid and oxalate. The crystals can not be diluted by the liquid, thus forming kidney stones.

Calcium citrate supplements are generally used as a treatment for preventing calcium oxalate stones, as well as the type of stone called uric acid stones in people susceptible to the disease.
